Father,
Thank you for the opportunity to go on a mission trip with a team of people. Thank you for providing the funds so that we could go. None of us has a lot of money, but when we think there may be a possibility of eternal rewards, it is worth it. So thank You for making it possible for us to go.
Thank You for the safety You have given so far. We ask for Your continued protection as we reach out into the neighborhoods around us. We know that the safest place in the world for us is in the center of Your will. We believe that You have brought us here, so we rest under the shadow of Your wings. (Psalm 36:7)
Thank You for the willingness of each of our team members to try new things. This trip is full of new and different things: a new culture, strangers to turn into friends, a different climate, a different way of speaking, and new foods. All of them have risen to the challenge without complaint. So thank You for instilling in them the desire to fully experience this new culture.
Thank You for the church service last night. Thank You for the faithfulness of the believers here to reach out into this community. Last night one of our team members preached. Several others dealt with people who came to the altar. One young man made a profession of faith. Others commented on what a blessing the singing and preaching was. So thank You for an opportunity to minister to people.
When we go out into the community to speak to people about You and to ask them about their relationship with Jesus, give us wisdom so that we can really listen and understand their answers. Help us to encourage them one step closer to You. Let some of them be provoked by the state of their own hearts. Let us plant seeds that will reap an eternal harvest.
Let us be changed by this trip. When we go back to our regular routines, let this trip make a difference in us for eternity. Let all of us be more passionate about serving You, more passionate to pray for the needs of people around the world, and more passionate about supporting missionaries. Expand our hearts so that we better understand Your great big heart for our world.
In Jesus's Name,
Amen
