Lord,
I come this morning praying for us, Your people. May we see Your power at work today - in setting us free from sin, in giving us a heart for worship, and in showing us how to love one another. These are not things we can do easily. We need Your work to create pure worship and true love in us.
Lord, feed the hungry today. Let your people come hungry this morning to receive from Your Word. Let Your pastors give soul-satisfying food so that the spiritual food we receive gives strength and endurance for the coming days. Let Your Word change us down to the smallest area of our spiritual lives.
Lord, lift the downtrodden today. We strain under the load of work. We try to bear up under a load of loneliness. We tend to believe the lies that have been said to us, especially the ones that Satan whispers into our minds. Lord, lift us up. Let us listen to and believe Your truth this morning.
Lord, give sight to the blind today. We are often so blind to the needs of others around us. We are blind to our own faults, mistakes, and sins. We are blind to the magnitude of Your all-surpassing greatness and love for us. Give us sight to see the wonderful truths that You have for us in Your Word. Let us look at the world around us with the eyes that You have.
Lord, set us free today. Many of us are locked in a prison of some kind, often of our own making. Set us free from the things that hold us back from complete freedom in You - fears, feelings of inadequacy, emotional dependency on things or people that are not good for us, and a lack of looking to You to set us free. Let us look to You today, the one who holds the key to open our prison cells. Let us walk out in freedom, holding onto Your hand, trusting You for every moment of our present and our future.
Show us how to walk by faith, both individually and corporately. Show the pastors, elders, and leaders how to lead by example in walking by faith. Show them how to go ahead on the basis of what You have told them to do, regardless of the apparent availability of resources. Let them trust You to supply the need. Let them dream big dreams that will have eternal results. Keep them from getting mired down in the little problems. Don't let them ever forget that they lead people who have eternal souls for which they will have to give an account.
As we come together in our local assemblies, let us lift up Your name today so that Jesus Christ would be honored and glorified in our midst.
Amen.
