Heavenly Father,
It's so good to be able to call you "Father." You are unlike any human father because You are perfect and powerful.
All of us, at one time or another, have longed for a perfect father. Thank You, that You are that perfect Father. Our fathers here on earth may be strong, but they are not strong enough for every situation. Human fathers are wise, but they are not wise enough. Many are good, but they are not perfect.
Unlike our human fathers, You do not have to divide Your time between your children because You are infinite. You do not have to put one child's needs ahead of another because You are not limited in your time, power, or resources. You can deal with each one of us exactly as we need. You love us beyond our ability to comprehend, a love that is so profound that You made a plan to adopt us while we were still enemies.
Many children do not have fathers at all. Thank You that You are a father to the fatherless (Ps. 68:5). In our unjust and wartorn world, we ask You to defend them (Ps. 82:4), and deliver them from evil. Protect them from the lies of Satan who tells them that You do not care. Remind them that You allowed Your own Son to die for them so that they might be adopted into Your family. Give them hope in the seemingly hopeless situations they face. Give them the assurance that You will not betray them.
There are many children who may have fathers, but they do not feel loved by their fathers. Help them to rest assured of Your love. You will always stand by them and walk with them through the hard times. Remind them that You will never leave or forsake them (Ps. 27:10; Hebrews 13:5).
You are perfect. You are holy. Your love is limitless. Thank You for being our perfect father.
